We don’t sleep in the same bed anymore. Not because we don’t want to… but because at this stage of her pregnancy, Joey has to spend most nights on the recliner, just to be comfortable…

Today was a day that was never supposed to happen…

My sister Marcy has been dreaming about pipes.  Fixed pipes.  The kind where water runs through and nothing leaks.  Where you turn on faucets and there’s both cold and hot water.  And when you turn them off nothing leaks.  Our little family restaurant “Marcy Jo’s“ has never had those.  For the past seven years, they’ve only had the jury-rigged, taped together, leaky kind of pipes.  Part pvc, part pex, part cpvc… all broken now by the single-digit temps we had a few days ago.

for the past two days Joey has been baking.  And baking.  And baking.  She knew I was supposed to have been in Las Vegas this week for CES, but because of the broken pipes here at the farm I couldn’t go.  And she knows that my favorite restaurant there is called Monami Gabi.  And she know that they have this specific croissant breakfast sandwich there that I love.  Anyway, a couple days ago she decided to figure out how to make “Monami’s croissant sandwich” homemade for me.

Things I learned today…

....I learned that even if you think you’re ready and your pipes won’t freeze, they probably still will.
