This past August, I was blessed to be asked to be part of a new TV special with legendary country artist Travis Tritt. That tv special and album was released today.
Being part of it is special for me for a few reasons. First off, long before I ever moved to Nashville, I was listening to Travis's songs on the radio and watching his music videos - hoping one day to find my way to here to make my own small mark in country music.
But also because the project and tv taping was all about a new Gospel album that had been in the making for 30 years and I was going to get to be part of sharing the story of the impact Travis' faith and his mother has had on his music and his life.
The taping was done in a beautiful barn behind the Loveless Cafe, an iconic eatery just outside of Nashville. And it's always good to see all the wonderful Gaither team and film crews who work so hard to bring these projects to be. Not only had Joey and I done many tv special with them through the years, but I've also been blessed to be the host of some wonderful projects that Brothers Of The Heart and Bradley Walker have made.
For this tv special, I sat down for about 90 minutes with Travis and we had an incredible conversation about how his new album came to be and why he chose the songs he did. But Travis also shared some things about his life and his journey that a lot of folks might not have been willing to open up and be honest about.
After the interview, I was blessed to get to introduce Travis, as he (along with a surprise appearance by the Oak Ridge Boys) performed the whole album live in front of a couple hundred people who'd come to be part of the taping and concert.

I'm really proud to be part of this project, and to have met and been able to spend some time with Travis Tritt and get to know him. Here's really a wonderful, sincere guy and I so hope we get to cross paths again much more in the future.
If you're interested, Travis new Gospel album 'Country Chapel' and the DVD tv special came out in stores and online today and I'm going to get a copy myself, since I haven't actually got to watch the whole thing yet.
